You should set aside 90 minutes for the initial session. During this time we will discuss your goals, what hypnosis entails and how we go about achieving the hypnotic state.
After your initial session, our follow-up sessions will last for between 60-75 minutes where we will discuss progress to date, and continue our work through further hypnotic techniques.
It is often said that hypnosis only works on certain people, and that there are those who are incapable of being hypnotized. This is not true. Hypnotism is more than just a “one size fits all” approach, and by using what is known as the Kappasinian method of determining an individual’s level of openness to thought suggestion, therapists are able to use differing techniques tailored to the individual.
Clinical hypnotherapy is a far cry from the perception created by entertainment-driven stage and television shows. At all times during your hypnosis session, you remain in control. You will not find yourself induced into a state where you display any negative or unwanted behavior. Neither will you do anything that is against your will. Those in a state of hypnosis are aware and remain fully in control throughout their entire session. You have the power to open your eyes at any point. You will also be provided with an audio version of the hypnotherapy session, allowing you to revisit and reinforce our positive suggestion techniques in the comfort of your own home.
In terms of the number of sessions required, it will very much depend on the complexity of the behavior patterns involved. Some people can achieve their desired results in one session, while others may take up to ten sessions.
There are no after-effects from a session, only that you are likely to leave with a heightened sense of calm and well being. You are immediately able to carry on with your daily tasks as normal and start enjoying the benefits of positive changes in your life.
